A Year of Fruit
This year we will be spending a month looking at each Fruit of the Spirit as written by the Apostle Paul in Galatians 5:22-25. There are 9 fruit listed and we will begin our focus in February (now) and conclude in October.
I’m excited about walking with each of you through the Fruit of the Spirit this year! It will be an interesting journey, focusing in on each fruit monthly. I hope you will give it a try.
Be gentle with yourselves as we begin. Some days you will do well and other days you might totally fail. But that’s ok. There is something beneficial to the work of trying. We learn what works and what doesn’t. We learn about what triggers us and what things help us to excel. As we experiment with spiritual growth, we learn more about ourselves and God, who is at work within us. Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Even now, God is working in us to produce more fruit. He is shaping and forming us, like the potter with her clay.
Near the start of each month, we will send out a blog about that month’s fruit by email. This will also be on our website and linked in our weekly email. It will have a short reflection followed by some conversation questions and a prayer.
I hope you will take the time to pray each month about the fruit. Talk about them with one another and invite God to grow them in you as we discuss them each month. I believe when we pair our willingness to grow with God’s mighty power at work within us, big things happen. New things happen. You’re invited into an exciting adventure; I hope you say “yes”!
